Otorhinolaryngology studies diseases of the ear, nose, and throat (pharynx, larynx, trachea) and deals with their treatment and prevention. The reason these organs are grouped under one specialty is due to their anatomical proximity.

Diseases classified as ENT disorders include:

  • Decreased or lost sense of smell

  • Dryness in the nose

  • Hearing loss or complete hearing loss

  • Ringing in the ears

  • Headaches or dizziness

  • Ear discharge

  • Cough

  • Hoarseness or raspiness in the voice

  • Throat irritation

  • Enlargement or pain in submandibular lymph nodes

Diagnosis of ENT diseases is carried out using:

  • Endoscopy

  • Ultrasound

  • Laboratory tests
