A spermogram is a diagnostic test used to evaluate male fertility by analyzing the ejaculate.
This analysis determines various qualitative, quantitative, and morphological parameters, including:
Volume, color, and pH of the ejaculate
Sperm count per milliliter
Percentage of normal vs. abnormal sperm forms
Important Preparation Instructions:
The sample must be collected via masturbation.
Ideally, the analysis should be performed on-site at the clinic.
If collected at home, the sample must be:
placed in a sterile container,
delivered to the clinic within 15 minutes of collection.
Abstinence from sexual activity is required for 3 to 7 days before the test.
Avoid alcohol and heat exposure (e.g., saunas) during this period.
Do not smoke on the day of the test.
If you are on medication, consult your doctor — the test should be scheduled accordingly.
