For Women:
Abstinence from sexual activity: at least 2 days prior to the test
The test must be performed at least 3 hours after last urination
Should be done before colposcopy or 24 hours after vaginal ultrasound
At least 3 days after using vaginal suppositories
Ideally done 2 days before or 3 days after menstrual bleeding
14 days must pass after completing any antibiotic treatment
No deep washing or vaginal douching on the day of the test (gentle washing with lukewarm water is allowed)
For virgin patients (virgo), the sample is taken from the external vaginal area only.
For Men:
On the day of the test, urination should be avoided, or sample should be taken 4–5 hours after last urination
14 days must pass after any antibiotic therapy
