The 71st anniversary of the victory over fascism in World War II was commemorated in the Nasimi district. A ceremonial event was held at the 1941-1945 memorial square, attended by the Nasimi district administration, public representatives, employees of Saglam Ailə Medical Center, and war veterans.
During the war, Azerbaijani soldiers displayed remarkable courage in fierce battles for Leningrad, Moscow, Sevastopol, Odessa, Stalingrad, Kyiv, and other cities, as well as in the Caucasus, partisan operations, and the Battle of Berlin. Thousands of Azerbaijani heroes were decorated with orders and medals for their bravery, with 121 individuals receiving the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Major General of the Tank Forces Azi Aslanov was twice awarded this honor, while 34 people were awarded all three degrees of the Order of Glory.
The Azerbaijani people remain proud of their past, especially their contributions to the war effort. Veterans have always been among the most respected and honored members of our society.
During the event, veterans shared their memories and expressed gratitude to the country’s leadership for their care and support.
Following the ceremony, World War II veterans received ultrasound (U/S) examinations, ECG tests, and consultations with neurologists, therapists, otolaryngologists, and ophthalmologists at Saglam Ailə Medical Center.
